The Exchange & Repair promise

We lend you the part. Your machine cuts again in 24 hours.

When a high-value component fails on your HAAS® — a vector drive, a servo amp, a control board — we bring you a working replacement within 24 hours, fit it, and prove the machine. You keep the loaner and get back to production the same day.

Meanwhile we take your original away and repair it at the bench — no time pressure, proper diagnosis, honest fix. When yours is repaired we swap it back at your next scheduled visit, or leave the repaired unit with you as a spare.

Fixed pricing

A single fixed swap-in fee, plus a fixed price list for every replacement part — sent to you the moment you call. No hidden costs, no surprise bills. If we can repair your original, that’s all you pay. If we can’t, the price for the replacement was known to you before we set off.

Same warranty as a new HAAS® part

Every part we exchange carries the same warranty that HAAS Automation, Inc. gives on the equivalent new component — parts and labour, in writing, from the day we fit it. Our refurbishment is warranted at parity with new. If ours fails within warranty, we come out at our cost.

Call us first with the failed part number or the alarm on your screen. We’ll tell you honestly whether we hold that specific unit in loaner stock, the fixed price to swap it in, the fixed price if your original can’t be repaired, and how quickly we can get to you. If it’s something we don’t stock, we’ll still help you get sorted.

1
You call, we quote on the spot

Phone diagnosis to confirm the failed part. We tell you honestly whether we hold that specific unit, the fixed swap-in fee, and the fixed replacement price if yours can’t be repaired.

2
We bring the part within 24 hours

Engineer arrives with the loaner, fits it, proves the machine and takes your original away. You’re cutting again the same day.

3
You keep the loaner while we repair yours

Proper diagnosis at the bench — no time pressure. If we repair it, we swap back at your next service. If we can’t, you keep the loaner and pay the fixed replacement price you were quoted on day one.

What we hold in loaner stock

The high-value HAAS® components that stop production for weeks when they fail. Grouped by what they do — find yours below. Availability varies by machine model and specific part number, so always call first with the alarm or part number to confirm we can help today.

Group 01

Drives & Power

When the machine won’t turn on, won’t move an axis, or the spindle won’t rotate.

5 parts · tap to expand
Vector Spindle Drives

The main spindle drive. When alarm 122 or 123 hits, this is often the cause.

PN: 93-69-1000, 93-69-1010, 93-32-5559D, 93-32-5558D Full guide →
Servo Amplifiers

X, Y, Z axis amps. Typically interchangeable across all three linear positions on a VF.

PN: 32-5550E, 25-7619B, 4015H-H Full guide →
Regen Resistor Modules

Dumps braking energy as heat. Fails alongside vector drive faults (alarm 122).

PN: 33-1032 Full guide →
Low-Voltage Power Supplies

Feeds the control boards. Often the real cause of what looks like MOCON or MAINCON failures.

PN: 32-4447 (Condor), 65-4075H Full guide →
Single-Axis Brake Supplies

Controls the Z-axis brake and vertical spindle counterbalance. Common on older VF machines.

PN: 65-4094F
Group 02

Control Electronics

When the control is dead, the screen is dark, or nothing responds.

5 parts · tap to expand
MOCON Motion Boards

The motion control board. When it fails, every axis is dead.

PN: 65-3092K, 32-4023H Full guide →
MAINCON Main Control

The main control board behind the operator interface. Less common failure than MOCON but expensive when it goes.

PN: 65-4023V Full guide →
LCD / Video Interface Boards

Dead or garbled screen. The machine still runs but you can’t see or control anything.

PN: 65-3400C Full guide →
I/O PCBs

Reads sensors and drives outputs — coolant, air, tool changer, door interlocks. One of the most common HAAS® failures.

PN: 32-3080M, 65-1055M, 65-3083T Full guide →
Keyboard & Pendant Assemblies

When the operator pendant is dead, keys stop registering, or the jog handle stops working.

PN: 65-3020D, 65-4100R
Group 03

Motors & Feedback

When a motor has burned out or feedback has failed. Note: motor swaps typically take longer than 24 hours on-site — we’ll agree the timing on the call.

4 parts · tap to expand
Servo Motors (X / Y / Z)

Axis motors that have burned out or that the drive can no longer command. Available in the common HAAS® sizes.

PN: 40-1662, 40-1663, 40-1664 (Yaskawa)
Spindle Motor Assemblies

The main spindle motor. Physically larger swap — longer on-site time but still faster than waiting on HFO.

PN: 93-16-4145 and equivalents
Spindle Encoder Assemblies

The feedback ring that tells the control where the spindle is. Causes orient faults (alarm 116) and rigid-tap failures.

PN: 93-32-4088, 93-32-4088A
Axis Encoder Cables

Not a board but a common failure point — damaged, pinched or contaminated encoder cables cause alarms 182, 195, 224.

PN: Multiple — call with your axis and machine model
Group 04

Sensors & Actuators

The small stuff that stops production but that HFO doesn’t stock cheaply or quickly.

4 parts · tap to expand
P-Cool Coolant Nozzle

The motorised programmable coolant spigot. Fails often on shops running heavy coolant — alarm 196 territory.

PN: 93-0584
Tool Changer Solenoids

Air-controlled solenoids that shift the carousel or turret. Common cause of alarms 113, 114, 115, 125.

PN: 93-9002, 93-0028
Air Pressure Switches

Trigger alarm 120 (low air) and stop the tool changer / drawbar working. Cheap part, big downtime.

PN: 32-0525, 93-3005
Door Interlock Switches

The switch that says the door is closed. Faulty ones stop the cycle randomly or lock out setup mode.

PN: 32-4046, 32-4046A

03 — HAAS® Breakdowns

When a HAAS® stops cutting, every hour matters.

Squidex exists for that hour. An independent HAAS® service engineer who has lived inside these machines — not a generic CNC repair desk.

01.

Spindle & drive

Spindle won't orient, overload alarms, drive faults, encoder errors and bearing damage on VF, Mini Mill and ST machines.

02.

Tool changer (ATC)

Side-mount and umbrella ATCs — geneva mechanism, double-arm changers, pocket position errors, tool drops.

03.

Servo & axis

Following-error alarms, axis drift, ballscrew & backlash, way-cover and lube starvation, geometry recovery.

04.

Hydraulics & coolant

Through-spindle coolant, hydraulic counterbalance, chuck pressure, leaks and chip evacuation issues.

05.

Control & comms

HAAS® Control issues, IO board faults, networking, post-processor problems and parameter recovery.

06.

Rotary & 5-axis

HRT, HA5C and trunnion repair on UMC machines — brake pressure, worm preload, encoder calibration.

When you call Squidex about a HAAS® breakdown, you talk to the engineer doing the work — not a triage desk.

That means a real diagnosis on the phone before anyone gets in a van, and a clear plan to get the spindle turning again.

Keith Davies has spent his career on HAAS® machines, from compact toolroom mills through to UMC five-axis and dual-spindle ST lathes. The same engineer who diagnoses your fault is the one who orders the part, fits it, proves the fix, and tells you what caused it so it doesn't come back.

What you can expect

A phone diagnosis the same morning you call. A realistic ETA. Genuine or OEM-equivalent parts where it matters. A written summary of the fault, the fix, and what to watch for next time.

Dead vector drive? Blown servo amp?

For high-value control components that normally mean weeks of downtime waiting on a new part, ask about our Exchange & Repair service — we lend you a working part to get you cutting in 24 hours, then repair or replace yours. Fixed pricing, same warranty as a new HAAS® part.

Where we cover

Based in Watford, Squidex covers London, the Home Counties, the Midlands and the South East as a primary region, with HAAS® breakdown response available across the wider UK on a same-week basis.

04 — Alarm Code Lookup

Got a number on the screen? Look it up here.

A quick reference for the most common HAAS® alarm codes — what each one usually means in plain English, common causes, and what to check first. Search by number or keyword.

A note on this list. Alarm wording and numbering can vary by HAAS® machine model and software revision. The descriptions here are written in plain English to help you understand what the machine is reporting and what to check first — they're not a substitute for the official HAAS® operator manual or for a qualified service engineer's diagnosis. Always confirm the exact alarm message on your screen and consult your machine's documentation before attempting any repair.

06 — FAQ

Common questions, answered before you call.

Do you cover HAAS® breakdowns across the UK?

+
Yes. Squidex Solutions provides HAAS® breakdown response across England, Wales and Scotland. Our base in Watford gives same-day reach into London, the Home Counties and the South East, with the rest of the UK supported on a same-week basis depending on the fault and parts lead time.

Are you an independent HAAS® service engineer?

+
Yes. Keith Davies is an experienced independent HAAS® service engineer specialising in HAAS® breakdowns, preventative maintenance and post-warranty repair. No Haas Factory Outlet tie-in — just a direct relationship with the engineer working on your machine.

Which HAAS® machines do you work on?

+
VF and VM mills, Mini Mill, Super Mini Mill, UMC five-axis, TM toolroom mills, ST and DS lathes, plus HAAS® rotary tables and indexers (HRT, HA5C, trunnions). If it's a HAAS®, talk to us first.

Do you offer scheduled servicing as well as breakdown response?

+
Yes. Scheduled servicing covers the things that prevent breakdowns — way-cover and lubrication checks, spindle warm-up and runout, backlash and geometry, calibration and alignment, and a written health-check report. Most customers run an annual or biannual service depending on usage.

How does the Exchange & Repair service work?

+
When a high-value HAAS® part fails — vector drive, servo amp, MOCON, I/O board, power supply and similar — call us with the part number or the alarm on your screen. If we hold that specific unit as a loaner, we can be on-site within 24 hours with a working replacement, fit it, prove the machine and take yours away. You keep the loaner and get back to production the same day.

You pay a fixed swap-in fee we quote you before we set off, plus one of two outcomes: if we repair your original, we swap it back at your next service (or leave the repaired unit with you as a spare). If we can’t repair it, you keep the loaner and pay the fixed replacement price we quoted you at the start — never a surprise. Every part we exchange carries the same warranty as a new HAAS® part from the equivalent HFO supply.

Do you carry parts on the van?

+
A core stock of common HAAS® service items, yes. Larger parts (spindles, drives, control boards) are sourced through OEM and trusted exchange channels with the lead time confirmed up front — no hidden delays.
